Not sure of the connection between these two. 1788 is when England landed in Australia and founded botany bay.

If just going off of the top pic I would say they were using foreshadowing of Germany proposing chemical weapons be banned and England declining. This is key because Germany’s mustard gas attacks were particularly brutal to English and French troops in world War 1.

The horror of mustard gas led to a treaty being signed banning the use of such weapons after the war ended.

Again, the time line doesn’t make sense for it having something to do with Australia (first pic is roughly 75 years after the second one). I may be missing something though.

That’s Belgium not Germany. Same colours just vertical not horizontal.

That’s what I get for glancing at it while on my phone. I just saw the colors and the reference to chemical warfare.

[Chastising myself] you’re better than that! [/end rebuke]

That and the fact that Belgium wouldn’t have been at a major agreement in 1864 as it had only just obtained it’s freedom from the Netherlands 30some years earlier...

I still have no idea what the link between these two is though.

Well it wasn’t the U.K. then (the British Empire) but 1788 was it’s first substantial presence if I recall correctly. It was the first major colony (penal colony), but yes, they had ben to Australia before 1788.

Something to do with Australia being hot and full of dangerous wildlife after which even war isn’t hell.

1864 was when Denmark invited Prussia to a war and promptly lost.
